We tried to come up with a clever, funny headline for this post – but we were too depressed to be funny. We have reported for so long about acai berry scams that it takes a lot to surprise us – but this latest acai scam surprised us! We have seen the fake acai review sites, been through the fake diet blog sites and of course all the free trial scams. But creating not one – but at least two fake news networks – that is incredibly disgusting.
Health News 7 – Bringing You The Best in Fake News
We recently got an email that linked to a “new report on the Acai Berry”. The news network is Health News 7 and here is a screen shot on their “story” -
You really need to click the above image to see it full size. Here are a couple of things we want to point out -
- Site is News7Health.Com and clearly looks like a real news site.
- The reporter is shown in the photo and identified as “Health and Diet writer, Julia Miller”
- The story goes on about how the reporter was skeptical, but some free trial Acai Berry helped her lose 25 pounds in 4 weeks.
This looks like a very impressive piece. We have a news reporter who tried Acai and saw amazing weight loss. There is just one little problem – IT IS ALL MADE UP!
Exposing News7Health.Com for the Scam It Is
The site looked strange to us and we had never heard of News 7 Health – so we decided to read more news stories from the site. We started clicking on the links on the top of the page – things like US, World, Business, Politics, etc – they are all dead links! This is a completely made up news site that uses affiliate links to try to trick people into buying a “free trial acai product” that will actually cost you $90 a month!
Don’t Be Disgusted Yet – It Only Gets Worse
I hope you have more disgust and outrage inside you – because it only gets worse! We did a little digging on the internet and we found this site -
Again, click the above image to get the full disgusting view. Wow, looks like there is another “news network” called Health News 6. Guess what, they also did a story where their reporter took Acai and lost tons of weight. Let’s get a close up of these competing Health Reporters from New 6 Health and News 7 Health -
Wow – not only did Julia Miller lose weight by taking Acai – she also completely changed her appearance! Acai really is Amazing!
Stock Photos Allow Anyone To Create Their Own News Network!
These scammers are so lazy that they don’t even make an effort to cover their tracks anymore. Why bother changing the fake reporters name – just throw in a different stock photo. If one fake news site makes you money, then 10 fake news sites will make you more money.
The Evolution of Acai Scam – Making the Jump From Deception to Flat Out Fabrication
Unfortunately, Acai scams are not new – we have been exposing them for over 2 years. What is so disturbing with this one is the jump from deception to fabrication. The “old” acai scam was to mislead people into thinking they were getting a free trial of Acai. Buried at the bottom of the Terms of Service, in font too small to read, was the fact that you will be autobilled $90 every month. This is completely deceptive, but the scammers try to walk the line claiming everything is there if people just read the Terms of Service.
This new scam does not walk any lines – it flat out lies and fabricates. Julia Miller is not a health reporter, in fact she is not even real! She is whatever stock photo they can find for their site. The News 7 Health or News 6 Health sites – also not real. Just fake facades for someone selling Acai. Of course the comments, testimonials and before and after pictures – all made up. I guess the scammers were not stealing enough money by deceiving, so they had to evolve into full out fabrication mode.
FTC – You Need to Take Action – NOW!
We uncovered this scam in about 5 minutes. To our fine hard working friends at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) – how about you spend a few hours building a case against these guys? These scams are costing Americans millions of dollars a year. Could there be more deceptive advertising than this?
Drop us a comment, let us know what you think. Are you as outraged as us?

Free trial costs you over $92 canadian dollars. When you finally find the number for customer service you get the pleasure of speaking with someone in the Phillipines who is reading from cue-cards. They won’t reverse the charges and the cancellation of your order/account is suspicious at best. They will not give out their address but cannot/will not quote any form of legislation that precludes them from doing so.
Not impressed with Absolute AcaiBerry or with Effective Cleanse Antioxidant! Haven’t lost a pound since taking it for more than three weeks.
Buyer beware of cleansesupp.com

Great expose! Will be reposting on my site. I knew that blond Julia Miller was too hot and that something was up!
S
I was so shocked I had to read this with my co-worker Yvelisse because we are always reading about Acai but I just don’t trust any site. I had actually printed the artcile you exposed and I was sold by all the reviews, but had yet to purchase luckily. I can’t believe that the government has yet to step in. Thank you so much for all of this helpful information and hopefully there will be a list of legitimate sites people can shop from to purchase the Acai products in the future.
Hi Carah,
Thanks so much for the kind comments. Glad you did not waste your money on the Julia Miller Health News Acai Scam.
If you are looking for a legitimate Acai product, we highly recommend the Perfect Acai.
Thanks,
Dan
I agree completely. It is crazy because i actually JUST read this article today by \\\\"Julia Miller\\\\". It seemed a bit fishy to me too. At first it almost seemed legit but then it started to seem like she was trying to sell this product and that is not part of a study. I thought this was a scam and now that i\\\\\\\’ve read this i am for sure. It sickens me but there are hidden fees everywhere you go anymore. I just recently got ripped off by premier fitness and fifth third. I wish someone would do something about all of this. They are costing good hard working americans tremendous amounts of money and unecessary turmoil/hardships in their lives.
WELL, THE SCAM IS GETTING BETTER….I JUST OPENED A ‘NEWS REPORT’ WITH A THIRD JILIA MILLER SHOWN.
FOR ALL THE GOOD THESE PRODUCTS WILL DO I COULD SHOVE THEM….
I think it’s hilarious! I got linked to news7daily.tv by seeing this ‘breaking news’ ad on the side of a page. – http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/3521/newsk.png
^^ look! it\’s great!
I knew it wasn\’t real but the audacity! It\’s hilarious. An anchorwoman\’s SHOCKING news about diets told at prime time in a beach halterneck? haha
sorry about the strange formatting error
at least i didn’t design a news icon in paint
The site is a joke, why would anyone believe it? Well prolly people that are dreaming so much to get a fit body but are to lazy, i feel very sorry for the people who buy this. they should understand that thats just fake, if they want to know they can google it up but they are so amazed about it so they just buy and the fact is if they do that i think its their own fault.
news7daily.tv/us/us4.php?t202id=4266&t202kw=1239000011 here is another julia miller pic haha..different pic same reporter..buyer beware..there are a lot out there and they use to steal yahoo username and passwords to spam your userlist. I was on yahoo messenger and i got logged off..i logged back in and people are wondering why i sent them a message on acai berry..i was furious and found a blog of the acai berry scam that accepted comments and complained but i don’t think they posted it lol but they knew they were caught and i never got spoofed again..people change your passwords at least every couple months and do not click on links in your emails. also i think you should investigate the teeth whitening scam and the muscle man scams on these pills supposidly buff yourself up without lifting weights. Yeah Right.
I feel so stupid but I actually ordered the free trial. I was wary but read the terms and conditions all the way through. I think most people get ripped because they don\’t cancel within 14 days, which I definitely will. I also used a credit card with a low limit. I felt like I was being cautious. Now I just feel dumb. Do you think I will be ok if I cancel within 14 days?
Hi Justin,
Don’t feel stupid – these scammers are very good at what they do! One of the companies made over $40 Million last year on free trial deals. Maybe you will be able to cancel in 14 days, but we have heard some horror stories about the process – things like you go to cancel and they tell you there is a 50 minutes hold time to speak to a representative. There is also the “our computers are down now, call back later” trick. Some have reported that their supplement does not arrive until day 15.
I am not saying this will happen to you – there are people who have managed to cancel. I would say don’t take no for an answer when you go to cancel and keep after them.
Good luck,
Dan
Might be worth forwarding the info to spam@uce.gov – whenever I get one of those stupid Nigerian emails, or anything else, I send it along to the folks at the Federal level – should keep them busy tracking down all these criminals!!
Here’s what I’ve learned – NEVER trust the ads, the emails, and all the other stuff floating around – do your homework; use SNOPES (yes, I’ve heard they’re a huband-wife team but they seem to ferret out the truth) and urbanlegends.com – don’t blindly forward anything, unless you’re 99% sure it’s legit – it’s still true, if it seems too good to be true, there’s a reason! Sad to say, but you’ve got to be suspicious ….. friend of mine just had his credit card # stolen while he thought he was upgrading his Norton software! Another scam!!
Please explain how her Acai is a scam but yours is not.
The scam continues — reinvented now as “News 6: Health News Consumer News Reporter” with yet a different “Julia Miller” reporter picture…
See submitted webiste:
channel6reports.com/health/?n=189&k=gennet:img
They even provide a contact email address:
julia@Channel6Reports.com
…but I bet it goes stright to a marketing staffer!
Hi Susan,
Thanks for your question. The “Julia Miller Acai Scam” does the following:
* Creates a fake news network
* Creates a fake news anchor
* Creates a fake story about weight loss
* Links to a “free trial Acai” that is not free
* Makes untrue claims about weight loss
* If you order their Acai you are put into a monthly ship program.
By contrast, the Perfect Acai product does the following:
* No fake news site
* No fake news reporters
* No fake stories about incredible weight loss
* No free trial scams
* No auto ship membership programs
* Provides 100% Organic Freeze Dried Acai
* Provides a Consumer Bill of Rights that guarantees you will never be auto-billed for anything
* 100% Money Back Guarantee
I think it is clear that “Julia Miller Acai” and the Perfect Acai could not be more different in the way they are made and marketed.
Thanks,
Dan
To JT,
The only advice I can give you is cancel your credit card.
Wow, that’s ones pretty dirty I’m curious to what these scammers will come up with next.
Have you guys seen the one where the site reveals all these different fake news sites and blogs than goes on the sell Acia pills of their own?
The people who run that must have no shame what so ever. True Dirtbags!
to admin dan ookay i see that u have acai berry on there as perfect acai but what about the cleanse i mean that sounds like a sure way to lose weight right to just get rid of ur toxins which if so is a good way then whats so wrong with just taking a laxative models i know do it all the time is it legit? i want the cleansing part not really the weight lose part because i am not regular but would love to lose a little more wiegt in the process
That’s so funny the same picture of the same “news reporter” Julia Miller is on porn sites for how to grow your penis 4 inches in 4 weeks ha. Seriously how scamming is that.
Hi George,
Thanks for the comments. Yes, we have seen the sites that “reveal” the fake news sites – only to be fake news sites themselves! It is really incredible. In fact, most of the ads you see in Google for things like “Shocking Report – Don’t Order Acai Until You Read This” are just scam sites themselves.
Look, we have no problem with someone liking an Acai product and promoting it – we do this ourselves. The problem is all the deception. Let’s just talk about the quality of Acai, the real health benefits, how it is processed, what the ORAC value is ,etc. There really are enough good thigs to say about real Acai, it is such a shame that these scammers are making so much stuff up.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Ciara.
Thanks for the comments. We are not experts on the colon cleanse products – so probably best for you to do some more research on this topic. Yes, the idea of getting toxins out of your body is a nice one, we are just not sure that colon cleanse products really do this. You should research the colon cleanse products on the market and ask for clinical studies to show that colon cleanse products are safe and effective.
Thanks,
Dan
I too was suss about the Julia Miller article, but in the process of googling it to find if it was legit, I didn’t find anything until after i signed up for te free trial. THEN i found this but i went straight to their customer care on the email and canceled my subscription…so technically they won’t even send the product, nor charge me for postage….right? I will cancel my card to be safe. Great review.
Hi Breanna,
Thanks for the comments. Yes, technically you are right – you should not be charged if you canceled. The only problem is that these companies do not always follow the rules. We have heard stories where people cancel but they are still shipped the product. When they ask why they were charged after they canceled they are told there is no record of the cancel request.
Hopefully you will be fine, but I would keep detailed records of everyone you spoke to (or emailed) and get a confirmation number for the cancel request. If there is a problem in the future, you can use all your records to file a dispute with your credit card company.
Thanks,
Dan

Yet another scam and yet ANOTHER JULIA
LOL! This Third Julia Miller is actually Melissa Theuriau
a French Sports Journalist and announcer. Just Google her name and you will find hundreds of photos. What a scam!
I just read the article from New 6… They use a completely different picture for Julia. Just to let you know. Scam or not.
I must say the acid berry has curved my eating, but I canceled and they still charged my credit card , I am in a overdaft because of THIS !
The bank will credit my account back , but it will take a week or 2 to resolve it! I will never order a thing a gain on Line. I hate what that company has done to my ACCOUNT ! The customer service are very NASTY and RUDE !
Hi All
I am really worried as i have just applied for the free trail and then i found this site !! what can i do to stop all the money coming out of my account???
HELP!!!
Hi Kylie,
I would try to contact the company you got the “free trial” from and cancel as soon as possible. Make sure you get as much information as possible when you cancel – confirmation number, reps names, etc. This will all help you if you need to file a dispute with your credit card company.
Good luck,
Dan
Just today, I stumbled onto a website that caught my eye while researching another topic.
News5Reports.com- Diet Trends: A look at America\\\\\\\’s Top Diets.
news5reprts.com/health/acai-reports
In fact I just woke up (1205am) and decided I better order this before the “special RIPOFF offer” ends 4/16. I typed in the URL above and got numerous hits for real “NEWS” sites, but not the one I was looking for. What did catch my eye is your web site. Thanks for pointing out the scam. I feel very fortunate and gullible. How tricky to make it look like a real news site.
The site shows a blond Julia Miller with the same story line as outlined in other web pages with different stock photos. I feel very fortunate, because I to saw the \\\\" must act before 4/16/10 to get free 4 week trail for only $1.95 and .99 cents for he cleanse” I Printed out the story and brought it home to show my wife. I told her we must try this. YIKES. I just scanned the last page that shows the “fine print” But I couldnt paste it in here. Maybe I will email it to you for posting. It clearly says the WEB site is fake and that they are going to charge 79$ each month. CRAZY
THANKS FOR SAVING MY BUTT AND MONEY
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the comments. Glad you did not waste your money! Yes, some of the sites now have fine print at the bottom that say the whole story is made up. Take a look at the video we did -
Julia Miller Acai Scam Exposed
It shows the tiny print at the bottom of the site. Amazing.
Thanks,
Dan
wow those idiots at the acai health news 6 and 7 are the worst i wish i could sue them!!!!
i ordered theacai berry from an e mail supposedly from ophra, that she recommended this on her show. i ordered the sample for5.95. received it. about three weeks later without my permission that company took another 80.00 dollars from my account and sent another abottle. i went aback and reread the e mail and it does not mention anything thing about future shipments. i reported this to my bank, but they said it was my loss. sorry i can\\\’t afford this loss, but i had to. i reported this to a investigative reporter i forget what channel, but he didn\\\’t even bother to reply. i hope you are a better investigative reporter then he was.
Hi Raven,
Thanks for the comment. We have been doing our best to expose these scammers. Take a look through our blog and you will see we have written endless articles on Acai scams and have called for the FTC to take action.
Your bank not refunding your money is crazy. I would get a new bank! You were the victim of fraud and your card should be protected from fraud. I would try pressuring your bank to refund your money as you did not authorize the $80 charge.
Good luck,
Dan
Whoops.. I fell for it before finding this site.. I’m glad that I did though. the site: onlinenews6.com got me with this.. I thought that it was funny when I tried clicking links to get US and world news and it linked right back to the same page. Also at the top (that look like links) it’s only a picture of links and subscribe. Luckily, as I’d mentioned I found this site and they’ll only be getting $4.98 from my card
Off to http://www.bbb.org
Hi, I am so glad I found this site!!! The first time I got to this website, I clicked all the things that were supposed to be buttons(world news button, top videos, etc.) which didn’t work. The site was different from any other news site i’ve been on, like it had no effort put in to it. Also the little headlines and stuff say outdated stuff like Michael Jackson, Hurricane Season 2009, and some asian business agenda that was in MAY 2007! How can you believe that site? You can’t even view the rest of the comments or even add one due to the non existent spam!! Ever since I found out the site, I have ran into it from various types of advertisement like comments on Youtube, yahoo answers, general advertisment, etc. and like to go on the site just for fun. Didn’t know that acai was a natural facial surgeon either *cough 3 different Julia Miller’s cough*
Other thought: Is it okay for anyone to use the logos of CNN MsNBC and such without consent? Couldn’t we, as a people, start a civil suit against them, not only for deceiving us, but copyright infringement?
Hi Ken,
Yes, I think these sites are in violation of numerous laws – copyright violation, deceptive advertising, etc. The problem is finding the company behind these sites is not that easy. There are multiple layers – affiliates, distributors, etc. Often the actual company that makes the product is outside the US and their country may have different laws on copyright.
Still, I think every effort should be made to go after these companies. On this blog we have documented Oprah’s lawsuit and the efforts of attorney general’s to shut these guys down. The problem is it is like Whack a Mole – knock one company out and two more pop up in its place.
Thanks,
Dan
Well like everyone else I noticed the “News Reporter” that tried the pills and loved them. There was a little link on there to another site so I clicked on it and read a little of it and realized the paragraphs on both of these sites were oddly the exact same the words were very close just changed a bit. So I kept pulling up one page and then going to the next page to see that in fact these had to be a total scam!W hat a dirty thing to do!!
This week’s Julia Miller is really nice looking – better than the other two above
Yeah and what a scam. They have all the “testimonials” but won’t allow any more posts “due to spam”. The “testimonials” stay the same but the posting dates change to today’s date
I went for this too after looking at the site and for some stupid reason not noticing that the comments at the bottom update each day to \"yesterdays\" date, but the comments are always the same. Thankfully I was skeptical enough to use a credit card that I was going to be canceling as soon as I canceled this within 14 days.. I canceled, told the stupid lady from india that I thought it was a scam and this is garbage and to cancel my order. Then I canceled my credit card. (I didn\’t get the shipment until the 17th day of the 14 day trial).
Honestly I should have known better when my credit card called me 5 mins after ordering this to make sure my card wasn\’t stolen!!
BEWARE SCAMMER ALERT!
Someone needs to nail those Acai/Colon cleanse scammer guys to the wall! I got scammed, stupid me I believing what I read on the internet about both of those supplements. Here is my experience; I saw the add thought it was really from news 6 (news6health.com) I know that was so stupid! Ordered the two bottles. Luckily I printed the order confirmation page. Then I did my research (yeah I know A$$ backwards) and came across this site explaining the scam. I had seen that they had authorized the two $5 charges to my card last week but had not actually posted them to my account. I tried calling the customer service numbers on the news6 site and they kept changing from one “different?” supplement company to another with different mailing addresses. As I opened one and called and they denied they where the company. Funny thing they had a similar supplement offering for a “trial time” then they would keep sending you new bottles every month, $10, $20, $60, $90 each. The scammers just don’t give up! Finally I found the customer service number at the bottom of the order confirmation page that I had printed when I ordered. I called it and spoke with Amanda #GS050 she confirmed I had ordered the bottles from them and it was within the 14 day trial period. Customer # 877-529-3745. Then the fun really began. She tried several times to get me to keep the product even went down to $10 per bottle per month. How nice she was to offer me those discounted deals in her broken English accent. She even made me listen to a recording basically begging me to keep the subscription. But I had enough of the games and firmly requested that I wanted to cancel the supplement subscription!!! I also informed her (on the advice of my lawyer) I was recording the call (which I was actually doing on my ipod). Don’t think I will need it but it was fun to listen to her get nervous. And get this, Amanda then said I would need to mail the empty bottles to 7102 West Roosevelt Street, #100 Phoenix AZ 85042. If I did not mail them I would be charged $70, oops she then stuttered and changed it to $90 charge for each bottle. I couldn’t believe the audacity of these people. She didn’t want to give me the company website for “security reasons”. After, I got off the phone I received a confirmation email with the RMA numbers and address to ship to. You can rest assured I will mail them back their bottles of useless supplement. Maybe I will put something fun inside the bottle for them to enjoy. So I then went through the hassle of cancelling my debit card. Yes I was dumb enough to use my actual bank account debit credit card. I was really gullible and almost deserved to get taken. Don’t be fooled, they are scammers. I am grateful you put up this website to warn everyone. I just wish I had read this site earlier and saved me all the hassles! THANK YOU so much!
Hi Scott,
So sorry you had to deal with these scammers – but thanks so much for sharing your story. Our hope is that people will read these honest comments and learn to stay away from any of these “free trial Acai deals”.
Sadly, this is all about money. Affiliates get paid a lot of money to try to trick you into signing up for the trial. Then if you try to cancel – as you learned – these reps are given big bonuses for any person they can stop from canceling. Yes, they will offer you anything just to keep you onboard their scam train.
Scott, don’t feel like you did something wrong – these scammers are good at what they do and everyday smart, intelligent people are falling for their scams – the problem is not with you and all the other innocent victims. The problem is these scammers are not being punished and when crimes go unpunished, the criminals get more brazen.
Thanks,
Dan
they shouldnt have used a hot chic for the picture of julia miller thats how i found out she and everything was fake lol
another picture on the same story. – onlinehealthnews7.com/us/us4.php?t=1239000020
I was actually trying to find that new 7 report so that I could order the product aftere reading it a few days ago. Instead I came by this site and thank goodness. I was so convinced that she was real. I feel very foolish. Thank you for the work you do. You just saved me a bunch of money that I don’t have in this economy.
Thank you!
Acai totally ripped me off. I am so furious right now. When i took it, i thought that i will almost die. The side effects are really bad! Don’t think that acai berry does not have side effects at all. I felt nauseous, wanting to throw up, and the scary feeling of passing out. That’s how great acai is. I want to sue them and get my money back and its impossible because nobody even answer my calls. What a great F***ing company.
This is a ripoff. Don’ use this stuff. We cancelled in the first week after receiving when we out it was full of caffiene. We cancelled within the 20 days allowed and they charged us anyway and then denied having done so. Stay way away from this crap.
You said it very well!
The ad keeps changing. The product keeps changing. The shipping expense keeps changing. How can the testimony stay the same?
When I attempted to cancel within the 14 days they wanted me to pay $19.95 per bottle for a cancelation fee. If I would return the bottles, empty or not, they would drop the cancelation fee.
My wife and I both tried it and not only did we not lose any weight, but it made my wife ill.
Everyone, please listen.
