Looking to avoid the Acai Berry in your juice? Have a thing against Blackberries? Well, then we have the perfect juice for you – Snapple Acai Blackberry Juice!
It turns out that Snapple Acai Blackberry Juice does not have Acai or Blackberry listed anywhere in the ingredients. If you love corn syrup, you will find plenty of that in the Snapple Acai Blackberry Juice.
First Acai Strawberry Jello and Now Snapple Acai Blackberry Juice…
We recently wrote about the Acai Strawberry Jello and the fact that the Jello does not contain Acai or Strawberry. Now we learn that Snapple Acai Blackberry Juice does not contain Acai or Blackberry. This is a very disturbing trend and one that consumers need to be aware of. Large consumer brands have started to add Acai to the marketing of many of their foods and juices, but there is basically no Acain in the products. Always read the ingredients and if you don’t see Acai listed, you know there is basically no Acai in the product.
Legal Trouble Ahead for Snapple?
Apparently we are not the only ones upset with the Snapple Acai Blackberry not containing any Acai. Stacy Holk brought a class action lawsuit against Snapple for deceptive marketing and claiming their juice is “all natural” when it contains corn syrup. The lower court did dismiss the case, but on Friday (8/14/09) the 3rd Circuit Appeals Courts reinstated the class action lawsuit.
We of course will keep you updated on the status of the lawsuit, but for now remember just because a juice is called Acai juice doesn’t mean it has any Acai in it. And yes, we get how ridiculous that last statement sounds.
