What is Chlorella?
Chlorella is a spherical, single celled, green freshwater algae that has existed on this planet for 2 billion years. Okay, wait -
don't hit the close button on your browser yet - it gets more exciting! What if we said chlorella can help rid your body of
toxins and pesticides and help you feel healthy and vibrant... a little more interested now? Let's learn more...
What is The Structure of Chlorella?
As far as plant algae go - Chlorella is pretty cool! Chlorella was the first form of life on this planet to have a
true nucleus. Drop that fact at a cocktail party and watch the response you get! Each individual Chlorella cell, which
is the size of a human red blood cell, is
its own fully functional microorganism. These chlorella cells can grow very quickly. In fact one chlorella cell will divide four times over
a 24 hour period.
What Nutrients Are in Chlorella?
Chlorella is one of the most nutrient rich plants on the planet! We know there is a lot of talk about various Super Fruits and their
nutritional content, but the tiny Chlorella alga is every bit as impressive when it comes to nutrient content.
Here are some of the things you will find inside a Chlorella Cell -
- 50% Protein, 20% Fats, 20% Carbohydrates
- Packed With Vitamins and Minerals
- Rich in Phytochemicals (nutrients found in plants)
- Filled with Chlorophyll
- Excellent Source of Flavonoids and Antioxidants
- Rich in Carotenoids, Lutein, Glutathione and Echinenone
- A Unique Outer Layer of Polymerized Carotenoid (more on this later)
Not bad for something the size of a human red blood cell!
Where Do You Find Chlorella?
Chlorella is a green algae that grows in freshwater, mineral rich, sunlight drenched pools. Sounds nice - I could go for
living where chlorella lives! As Chlorella is a living plant, its growth is effected by the environment it lives in. So, while
Chlorella could grown in a low sunlight, low mineral, high heavy metal environment - this is EXACTLY THE CHLORELLA YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO TAKE!
We go into more detail on how to find the best source of Chlorella in a later article, but for now it is just important to know that
if you want nutrient rich, healthy chlorella, you want to make sure you know where the Chlorella is grown.
Chlorella Sounds Interesting, But I Still Don't See How it Pulls Toxins Out of My Body?
Congratulations, you have made it through the boring, technical data on Chlorella. Now that we understand what Chlorella is and what
nutrients it contains, we can move on to the fun stuff! Time to look at how Chlorella pulls toxins out of the body and the other
exciting health benefits of Chlorella...
