Resveratrol Dosage
What Is The Correct Resveratrol Dosage?
The question of what is the most effective resveratrol dosage is one of the most debated points among scientist and doctors. The
problem is most of
the studies with resveratrol were done with mice and other animals and it can be hard to accurately calculate an equivalent human
dosage. Studies have put the correct dosage of Trans-Resveratrol anywhere from 20mg - 500mg per day. Let's take a look at some of the research -
"In the studies conducted by BioMarker Pharmaceuticals, mice demonstrated favorable anti-aging gene-expression
changes in response to receiving the human equivalent of 20 mg of resveratrol a day."
-Dr. Xi Zhao-Wilson, PhD, "What Dose of Resveratrol Should Humans Take?", Life Extension Magazine, March 2007
"Resveratrol, at doses that can be readily achieved in humans, fulfills the definition of a
dietary compound that mimics some aspects of Calorie Restriction." [4.9mg per Kilo a day were used]
- A Low Dose of Dietary Resveratrol Partially Mimics Caloric Restriction and Retards Aging Parameters in Mice, Plos One, June 2008
So, while the original Harvard Study on Resveratrol used a megadose (22mg per kilo) - more recent studies have shown that a lower dosage
can still have powerful benefits. The above studies would put the dosage for humans in the 20 - 400mg range.
When Comparing Resveratrol Dosage Make Sure it is Apples to Apples
As we discuss in our Resveratrol Supplements article, you want to make
sure you are comparing apples to apples when it comes to Resveratrol. If one supplement has 99% Pure Trans-Resveratrol, any supplement you
want to compare it to must also have 99% Pure Trans-Resveratrol.
So, how much Resveratrol Should I take?
We wish we had just one answer to this question. We do think it is important to take a supplement that has both 99% Pure Trans-Resveratrol
and high quality grape polyphenols. In our experience, the Perfect ResGrape Resveratrol , with 200mg of 99% Pure Trans-Resveratrol and
1,000mg of Whole Food Muscadine Grapes is an intelligent choice. The 200mg of Trans-Resveratrol fits within the range of resveratrol that most
experts recommend and the 1,000mg of Muscadine Grape ensures that you get all the other healthy nutrients found in grapes.
Consult With Your Doctor
It is very important that you consult with your doctor before starting any supplementation program. We are not giving any specific medical advice
on this website, just general information. It is possible there can be interactions with your medications, so you want to check with
your Doctor. In particular, anyone using a blood thinner should not use Resveratrol until it has been discussed with their Doctor.
